L. Scott Brooks III, CFA
Mr. Brooks has 30 years of investment management experience leading distribution teams across both retail intermediary and institutional channels. While working at some of the leading asset managers in the US including: Capview Partners, SEI Investments, DWS/RREEF Real Estate, JPMorgan, AMG Funds and OppenheimerFunds, Mr. Brooks has focused on the defined contribution, sub-advisory, OCIO, and HNW markets and is a recognized thought leader in these markets. He has been responsible for raising over $35 billion in new assets for the firms he has worked for.
Mr. Brooks served as the first co-President of the Defined Contribution Real Estate Council (DCREC) and was one of the group’s founding members as well as founding the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA) Defined Contribution Affinity Group and serving as its first co-chairman. Mr. Brooks is also an active member of the Defined Contribution Institutional Investment Association (DCIIA), where he has co-authored two white papers on the use of alternative investments in DC plans as well as leading the production of their recent white paper on white-label and multi-manager funds. Mr. Brooks has also been active with the Defined Contribution Alternatives Association (DCALTA), Society of Professional Asset Managers and Record- Keepers (SPARK), and the American Retirement Association (ARA). For many years, he has been active on the speaking circuit with these organizations as well as with industry publications including PlanSponsor, Pensions & Investments, Institutional Investor, Financial Research Associates, Buyouts Insider, PERE, and Chief Investment Officer. In 2011 he received the AI CIO innovation award for RREEF Real Estate for developing the firm’s daily valued real estate fund for defined contribution plans.
Mr. Brooks has previously held his FINRA 3, 7, 24, and 63 licenses and is a CFA charter holder. Mr. Brooks graduated from Cornell University in 1989 with a BA in Economics. In his spare time, Mr. Brooks serves as the President of the Delta Chi Housing Corporation at Cornell and is an avid competitive sailor. He lives in Darien, CT with his wife Gretchen and their two children.
